Gothenburg tram types and designations through the ages

The trams in Gothenburg have type designations only from 1951 . These names were simplified in 1959 to the system that is still in use. In order to be able to include older and scrapped carriage types in the system, the Industrial Museum in 1963 systematised the older car park. The type designations used by Ringlinien are marked in bold. In general, M stands for motor car and S stands for trailer. MB and SB stand for motor car / trailer with bogie.

The tram types are sorted into motor carriages and trailers by the year the wagon type was delivered.
